Callouts this year
Our primary function is to be a member team of Lowland Rescue, to provide response to search & rescue (SAR) emergencies in order to search for, rescue and recover those missing or in distress or potential distress. If you have a question about the team, please see our F.A.Q page, or contact us.
The missing people we are requested to search for typically don't know they are lost, or don't want to be found. Dementia, Mental Illness, Despondents are all very common reasons we get called out.
The team is made up entirely of volunteers who (together with their dogs) undergo constant training and must meet rigorous standards in order to obtain operational status. Most of our team members fit this in around full time jobs.
The team are called out by Sussex Police and neighbouring counties on average around 30 times per year. Every single call out is a search emergency where a vulnerable missing person is in need of being located as soon as possible.
